Food intolerance is a broad term for digestive and other symptoms that some people get after consuming certain foods.

These symptoms can sometimes be difficult to identify as they can appear any time within the 48 hours of ingesting the trigger foods.

If you find that certain foods trigger symptoms such as abdominal pain, bloating, wind, diarrhoea, IBS or non-digestive, more systemic issues such as skin rashes, hives, recurrent mouth ulcers, headaches, migraines, nasal congestion, flushes, you might be suffering from food intolerances.

If you suspect that your symptoms might be food related, I can help you identify and manage your intolerances so you can lead a symptom free life.

Find the cause!

Most common causes of food intolerances are:

  • enzyme deficiencies (ex. In lactose intolerance)
  • malabsorption of carbohydrates
  • chemicals and preservatives in food
  • pathogens in your digestive system
  • inflamed gut lining
  • bacterial dysbiosis

These causes often coexist and identifying them must be the first step in the treatment of your food intolerances. I am passionate about helping people navigate through the issues that are causing their food intolerances and have seen in practice how with proper management people can achieve a symptom free life.

Manage your food intolerances!

I will help you manage your food intolerances by firstly healing your digestive system. This will involve eliminating possible pathogens, reducing inflammation of your gut lining and supporting a healthy intestinal microbiota.

Food intolerances are best identified through dietary investigations. Sometimes, especially if pathogens in the digestive tract are suspected, I will advise you to undertake functional testing.

The dietary management will include a temporary elimination diet followed by food challenges under controlled conditions. I will guide you through the elimination/reintroduction diet by providing you with healthy wholefoods meal plans, shopping guides and pantry ideas to make sure that you are still getting all the necessary nutrients.
